i didn’t!
i promise!
This month is crazy. It started with me going to Charlotte, and then going to Charleston last weekend for wedding planning… and this weekend is Charleston again for Robbie’s wedding/my Uncle’s annual (belated) fourth of july party (b/c of the wedding in charlotte), then next weekend I’m trying to decide about going to Boone (that’s going to be a big we’ll see because I feel like crap already and camping does NOT mix well with that).
Then… August! Rockville Regatta & I turn 21 and school starts back… so weird because it feels like since I haven’t left Clemson, I’m still waiting on summer. Haha, I wish. Mandy will be back up here in just three weeks! I cannot wait until she moves back here… and of course, Chris is coming in August.
Wow.
When did summer just end?!?!
One of my favorite movies (and coincidentally, one of our first date movies to watch) is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a love story… well, just to cut it short, people’s memories get erased and weird things happen during this love story.
Tonight, I read this New York Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/06/health/research/06brain.html?pagewanted=2&hp)–it’s about the same thing, basically: erasing certain memories from existence. There are certain questions raised, however; for example, would all memories associated with the thing be erased (much like the movie, in which he does not know the song “Clementine” due to her name being Clementine)? Is it ethical, legal, moral (another question raised by the movie, interestingly enough)?
It will be interesting to see where they take this research… for now though, enjoy your memories, because each of them is the reason you are the person that you are!

Quick update:
Everyone here is doing well. Chad recently received an award for his Psych work, and Mandy is working at IOP again. I haven’t seen my lovely girls in a while though! Hope that changes sometime this week. Other news: we have planted a garden in the hopes that it will grow somewhat; we bought a grill and already I’ve burnt myself on it; and Easter is next weekend!
Finally, we have less than a month left of school before summer (though Chad is taking a class over Maymester and I’m taking a summer class).
Okay, it is very late, I should go to bed now. But just thought I’d let the blog world know about that crazy new memory-killing injection!
So… it was rainy and cold today. i hope it stops raining and being so wet tomorrow… it’s so gross when it’s like this. Anyways, on days like this, it’s chili time! So as a little “welcome to cooler weather,” here’s my recipe:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- half an onion, diced
- one can of diced tomatoes
- one can tomato soup
- one can tomato sauce
- two cans pinto beans
- two cups water
- one packet chili seasoning and cayenne to taste
So you brown the ground beef and onion together, drain a little and add in the rest of the ingredients, stirring to mix. Bring to a boil and then reduce to low heat, cooking for two to three hours.
TIP: When you add the cans of beans, add the liquid in the beans–it acts as a thickening agent with all the starch and helps the chili hold together better.
Chad goes to his conference tomorrow to present his research, I’m sure he’ll do well. I’m going to be finishing an AAH unit and cleaning all day, nothing like a good clean-up to make you want to stay home. Haha… that, and a nice comfy bed, soft down blanket and comfy pillows
I think you can tell i’m a little sleepy right now!
Going to bed now, i’ll post more news tomorrow!
